Advanced MRI Technology, Right Where You Need It
-
-
In 2010, we upgraded our MRI equipment to better serve our patients and physicians with advanced technology. The new MRI machine uses sophisticated technology to generate images with advanced resolution and clinical detail for physicians.
-
-
Built to increase patient comfort, the ultra-short opening of the MRI provides ample room for patients to feel more comfortable during exams. A wider opening means more room between the patient and the machine itself reducing the claustrophobic feeling close quaters can create. The MRI system's integrated coil system means many exams can be performed feet firts further improving patient comfort.
-
-
The new sound technology dramatically reduces acoustic noise, the most significant cause of patient discomfort during an MRI exam. Instead of the loud pounding other MRI systems produce, the sound the patient will hear is more like a gentle tapping.
-
-
Offering an array of features that boost image quality and patient care, this MRI helps patients have a better MRI experience and gives physicians better results.
-
-
Advanced features include:
-
- Ultra-short, ultra-wide opening
- Table flexibility and adjustable table height
- Noise reduction technology
- Quicker processing
Bone Densitometry
Osteoporosis is often called the "silent disease." Signs are rare until a lot of bone has been lost. Osteoporosis also can result in a crippling and painful fracture, occuring most often in the hip, back or wrist.
At Lakeway Regional Hospital, we are so pleased to be able to offer our patients full bone densitometry scans.
A bone densitometer measures bone mineral density (BMD). The amount of bone mineral relates directly to bone strength. The bone denitometer is a large, padded and comfortable examination table. The exam is painless and typicall takes one to 10 minutes. You will just need to lie still and breath normally.
-
A bone densitometry test helps doctors diagnose osteoporosis and guage your risk of osteoporatic fractures. The bone densitometry test is also useful in following bone changes. The bone densitometer can monitor the effects of age, diet or treatments on your bone status.
